Regularized Computed Tomography using Complex Wavelets

چکیده
Reconstructing low-dose computed tomography (CT) images is an unstable inverse problem, due to the presence of noise. To address this problem, we propose a new regularized reconstruction method that combines features from the Filtered Back-Projection (FBP) algorithm and regularization theory. The filtering part of FBP comprises Fourier-domain inversion followed by noise suppression based on thresholding procedure in complex wavelet domain. The proposed method exploits the properties of dual tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) to remove blurring and noise without the need for assuming a specific noise model. Furthermore, it uses an adaptive shrinkage function based on median, mean and standard deviation of wavelet coefficients to suppress noise while preserving the sharpness of the reconstructed image. The efficacy of the proposed method was assessed with projections simulated from Shepp-Logan Phantom. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method produces consistently good reconstruction in terms of suppressing noise and preserving resolution in the reconstructed images.

Optimization of Solution Regularized Long-wave Equation by Using Modified Variational Iteration Method
In this paper, a regularized long-wave equation (RLWE) is solved by using the Adomian's decomposition method (ADM) , modified Adomian's decomposition method (MADM), variational iteration method (VIM), modified variational iteration method (MVIM) and homotopy analysis method (HAM). The approximate solution of this equation is calculated in the form of series which its components are computed by ...
متن کاملRegularized Multidirections and Multiscales Anisotropic Diffusion for Sinogram Restoration of Low-Dosed Computed Tomography
Although most of existing anisotropic diffusion (AD) methods are supported by prefect mathematical theories, they still lead to smoothed edges and anatomy details (EADs). They are caused by not considering the discrete nature of digital signal. In order to improve the performance of AD in sinogram restoration of low-dosed computed tomography (LDCT), we propose a new AD method, named regularized...
متن کاملWavelet Methods for a Weighted Sparsity Penalty for Region of Interest Tomography
We consider region of interest (ROI) tomography of piecewise constant functions. We prove that continuous ROI data determine piecewise constant functions. Additionally, an algorithm is developed for ROI tomography of piecewise constant functions using a Haar wavelet basis. A weighted `p–penalty is used with weights that depend on the relative location of wavelets to the region of interest. We p...

Introduction: Panoramic view as a routine dental radiograph has an important role in diagnosis of other facial abnormalities accompanied with dento- alveolar structures. In this case presentation, we discuss this subject and also the efficacy of cone-beam computed tomography in localization of foreign body in complex anatomy of nasal cavity.
متن کاملPredictive Value of Computed Tomography Scan for Posterior Ligamentous Complex Injuries in Patients with Thoracolumbar Spinal Fractures
Background: Thoracolumbar spinal fractures include a range of injuries of various severities from simple apophysealfractures to neurological injury and complex fractures associated with vertebral dislocation. The treatment ofthoracolumbar fractures is challenging, especially due to the difficulty of evaluating the posterior ligamentous complex(PLC). The purpose of this study w...
